No HPUX gurus out there today? I cant help you much with workstations since I dont know much about them except that I cant remember if at the time of my 712 and 715 if you could be root in graphical... (hpux 9.05 and 9.07) I have the 10.20 CDs but never found the time to upgrade... at the time I had a terminal connected as console (reason of my doubts...) What I remember after is that if you dont open a console somewhere it displays on your current screen so you had to open a window that gets the console output:
I remember HP saying it can be tricky in setting the correct display (vertical/horizontal frequencies...). Does it display at all? I mean do you get the graphical CDE login prompt? (then when you connect it fails.?...)

AIX 5.3 , no Graphical adapter no Keyboard.....
I set up CDE to start without graphical boot, dtlogin process is running,
when start a xserver from Cygwin to access this box.
I can't login, because I have no Keyboard.

Hope someone can help. I have 5 Unix Tru64 ver 4.0/5.1B, boxes and I'm trying to connect and run CDE session from my PC. I have tried using Reflections, and Xming with no luck. Besides 'who am i' and 'tty' what commands could be used to determine if a session is interactive as compared to a web process or cron process. Any command should work with the common unix variants. (3 Replies)

dump-utmp - print an utmp file in human-readable format.
SYNOPSIS
dump-acct [-r|--reverse] [-R|--raw] [-n|--num recs] [-h|--help] [ files]
DESCRIPTION
dump-acct filename prints a list of all logins. This list is usually written in /var/log/wtmp.
All fields are separated by vertical line. Fields are: user name, tty, type, id, pid, hostaddr, host, time.
OPTIONS -h, --help
Prints the usage string and default locations of system files to standard output and exits.
-n, --num recs
Number of lines to print.
-r, --reverse
Start printing from last records.
-R, --raw
Print raw records, not human-readable.
FILES
wtmp The system wide login record file. See wtmp(5) for further details.
