I could be wrong as dont install much via CD/DVD as I use jumpstart and JET but could it be when the install is trying to hit the drive the system is trying to install the OS on?
i.e you have a drive with a bad label which needs to be looked at from a format?
Had something similar on a T1000, hardware raided it, went to install but it failed when jumpstarting. had to boot it single user and format the drive, when I entered format, it asked me to label the drive which I did. Restarted the install and everything went fine after that

I have to question:
1) when O/S is booting, i see messages:
/dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s5: is logging
/dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s3: is logging
/dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s7: is logging

i just completed installing O/S 5.9 on Sunfire 280R with O/S 5.9. During installation, i wasn't able to add IP, Default gateway, NDS and netmask because the lan port wasn't not active yet. Now that i have a lan port active, how to add network components onto the system?

I got the system couple of days back from one of my friend. Last night I turned it on and I noticed that maintenance LED is on.
