- Assuming your parameter file is in the proper shell format ( NAME=Value ) ,
all you have to do is to "source in" this file to your shell script ;
suppose your params file is called my_parms , and it contains :
and your runnable script is in the same directory , you place the line below in the beginning of your runnable script :
- this will make all the variables defined in your params file known to your script ;
im trying to open a file in my bin directory and the farthest i can get is into the folder but not the actual file itself i use text edit as the editor. when i try to open the file it says it doesn't exist here is what i type

Actually when i am trying to open my shell script file 1.sh then i am getting the following error.

script [-a] [filename]
DESCRIPTION
The script utility makes a record of everything printed on your screen. The record is written to filename. If no file name is given, the
record is saved in the file typescript. See WARNINGS.
The script command forks and creates a sub-shell, according to the value of $SHELL, and records the text from this session. The script ends
when the forked shell exits or when Control-d is typed.
OPTIONS
The following option is supported:
-a Appends the session record to filename, rather than overwriting it.
NOTES
script places everything that appears on the screen in filename, including prompts.
