If you make XP the primary partition, you'll loose the ability to boot Solaris.

Perhaps you really mean how to have Windows booted by default instead of Solaris. In that case, just edit the GRUB menu.lst file (/boot/grub/menu.lst or /rpool/boot/grub/menu.lst).
