Thanks for your reply techlinux, and thanks for the links which I will read.

By now however I have rebooted the machine, and the problem is gone. Not how I would have liked to resolve the issue, but that's what it is. Still, your links should enable me to work more, and be better equipped if this happens again, so thank you. Smilie

NAME
ifpgui - Open source GUI for iRiver's iFP flash player SYNOPSIS
ifpgui DESCRIPTION
ifpgui is an open-source graphical user interface (GUI) for iRiver's iFP flash players. It uses libifp to access the player using the man- agement interface. In addition to moving files onto or off of your iFP device, you can use this program to upgrade its firmware or view the battery charge level. You can also set station names in the radio tuner, and more... You can only use this software if your player has the "Management" version of iRiver's firmware installed. iRiver also releases a mass storage (UMS) firmware, which allows you to access your iFP device as if it were a USB hard disk drive. libifp is known to work on the following players: iFP-1xx,3xx,5xx,7xx,8xx,9xx and N10 FILES
