if you define a value for PATH inside a script, the value is only changed as far as the process running the script is concerned. "Nobody" else is ever affected. I think this may be the simple answer to your question. Changes to a child environment variable are NOT reflected in the parent process' same environment variable.

and im trying to figure out why my cp command cant copy one file.
I am trying to use variable in which i stored path to location where is file i wish to copy.

HI all, I got a CPIO archive that contains a unix filesystem that I try to extract, but it extract to the root dir / unstead of current dir, and happily it detects my file are newer otherwise it would have overwrited my system's file!

I want to run git status for the dir which has subdir ".git" in it with dir path mentioned in output log?
If a dir does not have .git subdir then skip that dir.
Dir will have 100 main dirs & 500 + subdirs and so on.

latd.conf - LAT configuration file
SYNOPSIS
/etc/latd.conf
DESCRIPTION
/etc/latd.conf is a shell script (run by /bin/sh) that is run when latd is started up using the latcp -s command.
It contains commands used to customise lat for your site and usually consists of a list of latcp commands.
latd.conf is run with a minimal PATH and a minimal environment. The variable $LATCP points to the latcp binary used to invoke the script.
EXAMPLE

# This is a sample configuration file for latd
# it is run as s shell script from latcp -s with a minimal
# environment and PATH. latcp should be invoked using the
# environment variable $LATCP.
