I never heard of SAP or ERP. In general, with 16 GB of RAM, I would go with 8GB of swap. 30 GB of swap seems very excessive; however, it should only waste disk space that might be better used elsewhere. I have never seen a performance hit from "too much" swap. That sounds like a bug.

Sun, is beginning to ship 146Gig drives. What is the recommended partition size for swap?
I can not get a good answer to this question. The double your RAM recommendation is quite old and outdated.

I have a Sun box with raid 1 on the O/S disks using solaris svm.
I want to unmirror my swap partition, and add the slice on the second disk as an additional swap device. This would give me twice as much swap space.
