If you are using bash or ksh the following will work provided the file is not too large.
Code:
xsl=$(< yourfile)

The is an example using the xslfile I provided earlier
Code:
bash-3.2$ xsl=$(<xslfile)
bash-3.2$ echo $xsl
<?xml version="1.0"?> <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0"> <!-- Strip out sec
tions of file --> <xsl:param name="application">Time Ma
chine</xsl:param> <xsl:output method="xml"/> <xsl:template match="node() | @*"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="
@* | node()"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="/plist/dict/array/dict"> <xsl:if test="not(contains(.//s
tring,$application))"> <xsl:copy-of select="." /> </xsl:if> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet>
bash-3.2$
