If you are trying to send a file from your windows box to a unix system, try using pscp instead of Putty. The pscp command should be part of the putty package. Google 'pscp batch file' and you'll get some good examples. It also supports passwords or key pairs for automation.

SYNOPSYS
runalarm [ -h ]

erwise, the exit status of the command is returned.
USAGE
-d
Debug mode; send log messages to standard error as well as to the system log.
-t timeout
Specifies the duration, in seconds, for runalarm to allow the command to run. The default is 1d duration (86400 seconds).
-h
