Hi!
Im trying to use host.allow & host.deny to resrtic access to my sun machine, but it doesnt seem to work... I want to allow full access from certain IPīs (ssh,http,ftp,etc...) but deny all kind of conections from outsideworld, the way that im doing that is:
hosts.allow

I have a large file with the first 2 characters of each line determining the type of record. type 03 being a subheader and then it will have multiple 04 records.
eg: 03,xxx,xxxx,xxxx

Hi,
I have a really simple script which I want to run forever, inside the loop it runs a C application which if it exits should restart.
#!/bin/sh
while true
do
./SCF scf.conf >> scf.log
sleep 2
done

Psu100 can lookup to psu000, psu010 & psu011
Psu110 can NOT lookup to psu000, psu010 & psu011

Hi,
I need to count number of '$' symbol in a file and assign it to a variable.
I am using below command.
grep -c '\$' inputfile
O/p:
10359
Its giving correct o/p but when I am assigning the same to a variable its giving completely different o/p.

hi all
just installed the netsec.options.tcpwrapper from expansion pack, which used to be a rpm, for my aix 6.1 test box.
it is so unpredictable. i set up the hosts.deny as suggested for all and allow the sshd for specific ip addresses/hostnames.

Can anyone explain why wc is behaving weirdly? Their are only 2 occurrences but wc thinks their are 7 occurrences. I have even manually checked this.
$ grep -i base *

lo -- software loopback network interface SYNOPSIS
device loop DESCRIPTION
The loop interface is a software loopback mechanism which may be used for performance analysis, software testing, and/or local communication. As with other network interfaces, the loopback interface must have network addresses assigned for each address family with which it is to be used. These addresses may be set or changed with the SIOCSIFADDR ioctl(2). The loopback interface should be the last interface configured, as protocols may use the order of configuration as an indication of priority. The loopback should never be configured first unless no hard- ware interfaces exist. If the transmit checksum offload capability flag is enabled on a loopback interface, checksums will not be generated by IP, UDP, or TCP for packets sent on the interface. If the receive checksum offload capability flag is enabled on a loopback interface, checksums will not be validated by IP, UDP, or TCP for packets received on the interface. By default, both receive and transmit checksum flags will be enabled, in order to avoid the overhead of checksumming for local communication where data corruption is unlikely. If transmit checksum generation is disabled, then validation should also be disabled in order to avoid packets being dropped due to invalid checksums. DIAGNOSTICS
