era Now i'm using UTF-8 but russian files are maybe KOI8-R or even CP1251.
i have instal many cyrillical libs. some times they (files) look like ????? or ____ ))

jim mcnamara no i don't thik so.

I can do it when i choose Russian language in gdm and set russian locale. But Gnome will be in russian language and i don't need this.

I'am using FreeBSD7 Stable + Gnome 2.20.1

how to lock nautilus file browser

Hi Everybody.. I am using Moblin V2 which has nautilus file manager the one which is also used in Ubuntu. "NetSDS::Util::Translit" module contains routines for bidirectional cyrillic text transliteration. Now it supports russian and ukrainian languages processing. EXPORTS
trans_cyr_lat($text[, $lang]) - transliterate string Convert text from cyrillic to latin encoding. Language may be set if not default one. $lat = trans_cyr_lat($string); trans_lat_cyr($text[, $lang]) - reverse transliteration This function transliterate string from latin encoding to cyrillic one.
