Question about Smitty Fs (backup an F.S)
hi all
was just wonderin..by the way im new here..hi all
...was just wonderin if i smitty fs backup a file system to tape if the permissions and ownership of the files and dir are retained?
o.s is AIX 5.3L

Last night I applied a DB2 fix pack which is now causing problems with the application that uses db2. Prior to applying the fix pack I did a mksysb(rootvg) which includes the file system that has db2 installed on it. If I do a restore from this will it restore the db2 version back to... (1 Reply)

0512-017 mksysb: Cannot write to the device /dev/rmt3.
Either write protected or in use.
My tape are ready to write ( dont get protection)

Hello everyone
I have a question.
Its possible to type smitty mksysb using sudo ?
I have a partition and install sudo I create a user for use sudo.
I make a test with sudo and command line for the mksysb and its ok
sudo mksysb -i /dev/rmt0 and I can make my mksysb.

I run a backup sucessfully:
find . | backup -ivqf/dev/rmt0
I want to make sure I can restore, so I change to a test directory and try this:
restore -rvqf /dev/rmt0
However, we fail with this error:
New volume on /dev/rmt0:

NAME
idevicebackup2 - Create or restore backup for iDevices running iOS4+.
SYNOPSIS
idevicebackup2 [OPTIONS] CMD [CMDOPTIONS] DIRECTORY
DESCRIPTION
Create or restore backup from the current or specified directory.
OPTIONS
-u, --uuid UUID
target specific device by its 40-digit device UUID.
-d, --debug
enable communication debugging.
-h, --help
prints usage information.
COMMANDS
backup create backup for the device.
restore
restore last backup to the device.
--system
restore system files, too.
--reboot
reboot the system when done.
--copy
create a copy of backup folder before restoring.
--settings
restore device settings from the backup.
info show details about last completed backup of device.
list list files of last completed backup in CSV format.
unback unpack a completed backup in DIRECTORY/_unback_/.
