Dude, the shell script is not failing... the "apachectl" command is. Look at start4.log when it fails. You can help yourself by automatically emailing yourself the logfile when it fails. Just ADD:

I am trying to install a package on solaris and one of the packaging scripts fail unexpectedly. There is a script called "checkinstall" which checks for the /opt space and aborts the installation if /opt is less than 100MB. In my case, even if /opt has enoguh space, the script fails.

SYNTAX
pure-statsdecode filename

DESCRIPTION
This program decodes Pure-FTPd's "stats" log files and converts timestamps into human-readable dates.
OPTIONS
- means to read the standard input.
filename
is a log file produced with pure-ftpd -O ftpstats:/path/to/logfile
EXAMPLES
To run this program the standard way type:
pure-statsdecode /var/log/pureftpd.log > /tmp/pureftpd.humanlog
Alternativly you can run it as:
cat /var/log/pureftpd.log | pure-statsdecode - | gzip --best > /tmp/pureftpd.humanlog.gz
