apache passwd file
i am using apache2.0, and i used this command to create username/passwd:
./htpasswd -b passwd.file username password
is it away to translate password back to plaintext ?
for example, passwd.file contains:
username:HnennjvqsGaQs
i want to translate back to:
username

We have passwd aging set in /etc/defalut/passwd.
I have an account that passwd should never expire. Acheived by emptying associated users shadow file entries for passwd aging.

Not an unix expert, I read a few pages on the web about passwd files, but I didn't find the answers I need about the last 8 lines of the passwd file I'm taking a look at.
I'm assuming their shortcuts to another file that may have the actual usernames of users on the system.

DESCRIPTION
Authenticate against a passwd file.
METHODS
* new
This method takes a hash of parameters. The following options are valid:
* path Path to passwd file to authenticate against. Any standard passwd file that has records seperated with newline and fields seper-
ated by ":" is supported. First field is expected to be username and second field, plain or encrypted password. Required.
path => '/etc/passwd'
path => '/var/www/.htpasswd'
* flock A boolean to enable or disable the usage of "flock()". Defaults to "d_flock" in Config.
flock => 0
* log Any object that supports "debug", "info", "error" and "warn".
log => Log::Log4perl->get_logger('Authen::Simple::Passwd')
* authenticate( $username, $password )
Returns true on success and false on failure. Authentication attempts with a username that begins with a hyphen "-" will always return
false.
