Thanks for the answers. Actually both of you give an answer which is part of the solution. I was thinking that someone must wrote a tool like munpack for it.
The only problem with munpack that it can't process a single mailbox file, eg: thunderbird's inbox. It only works if I make a test.txt which containst only a single mail which starts with:
From <sender> Mon Jun 16 20:42:11 2008
...
and ends with
--------------=CODE--
So I still have to cut this file apart to single mails in order to extract the attachments from them but I can do it from here. Thx guys.

I'm new to scripting and have been tasked with creating a script that will read a mailbox, such as /var/mail/user1, scan it for new messages, then send those new messages to another file.
It also has to be looped to run almost continuously.

Request you to please help on my issue.
My issue is: We are able to send the log files as an email attachment. We are able to get the attachment in our inbox. But when we try to see in web mail, instead of the attachment, junk characters are displaying.

I have created a simple log file (abc.log) with Hello World, from my UNIX script. At the end of the script, I have attached the log to my email using uuencode & mailx command.
THe email was send successfully and opening on my desktop without any issues.

claws-mail-attach-remover -- Attachments remover from mails
DESCRIPTION
This manual page documents briefly the claws-mail-attach-remover
This manual page was written for the Debian distribution because the original program does not have a manual page.
claws-mail-attach-remover is a plugin (loadable module) for the Claws Mail mailer.
Enables the removal all of attachments from emails. When right-clicking a message on summary view, choose ``Remove attachments'' from the
displayed submenu.
USAGE
Before using a plugin you must instruct Claws Mail to load it on startup.
For this you must go ``Configuration'' menu on main window toolbar, open ``Plugins...'' dialog, click on the ``Load plugin...'' button and
select the plugin file, named att_remover.so, and press the ``Open'' button.
BUGS
There is no way you can select individual attachments for removal. It's all or nothing.
