help !!! with project !! (assesment)
Hi
I need help with my 2 project couse I have no idea with shell script !!
First :
An admin wishes to monitor the logins to the server from a particular host ovner a time period. Produce script which report on whether or not there is any login from a given hostname at five minute intervals. Record the time in the report. Send the report to <hosntame>.logins in your home folder. for example : 'loginsfrom mars' should produce mars.logins with contents like :
Logins from mars on Jun 5 2007
1:00 yes john,bob, alan
1:05 no
1:10 no
1:15 yes bob, alan
(teacher : lastlog, date - and this is only what i know!!!)
Second :
backupto <foldername>
usage : backupto /misc/mybackup
fromt <filename <start> <finish>
usage: fromto somefile 10 20
copies all files only (not subfolders) in the current directory to the specified folder.
When the cat <filename> command is usage all lines are displayed, often in huge volumes and very quickly, and this can be very annoyung. Wouldn't it be nice if the range of lines to be displayed could be specified, for examole lines 10 thru 20 of the file chosen.
PLS !!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP !!!!!!!!
I just started .sh and hi give me somethink like this for assesment.
OS : red hat 8
