replace a newline (\n)
dear all:
maybe i have a file like :
12
34
56
78
end
how do write can i replace newline into NA :
make the file inte :
12
NA
34
NA
56
78
END
I wrote a shell like:
foreach a (fiel){
if a == ""
set $a=NA
}
but can't work maybe someone can help me

Removing newline and change to ","
I now this can be done with tr
cat OUT | tr '\n' ',''

range - Create an array containing a range of elements
SYNOPSIS
array range (mixed $start, mixed $end, [number $step = 1])
DESCRIPTION
Create an array containing a range of elements.
PARAMETERS
o $start
- First value of the sequence.
o $end
- The sequence is ended upon reaching the $end value.
o $step
- If a $step value is given, it will be used as the increment between elements in the sequence. $step should be given as a posi-
tive number. If not specified, $step will default to 1.
RETURN VALUES
Returns an array of elements from $start to $end, inclusive.
