But (i think) you may need to ensure that you space things out.
And it makes for easier reading.
Also, is $i a script ?? From your code, you are trying to execute the $ORACLE_SID.
Suggestively, forget about >/dev/null until you've gotten the script working.

Both examples are extracts from larger scripts.

DESCRIPTION
The cubrid_is_instance(3) function is used to check whether the instance pointed by the given $oid exists or not.
PARAMETERS
o $conn_identifier
-Connection identifier.
o $oid
-OID of the instance that you want to check the existence.
RETURN VALUES
1, if such instance exists;
0, if such instance does not exist;
-1, in case of error
