Hi,
Ports below 1024 are the so-called 'well-known ports' and you need privileges to run any process using port below 1024 assuming they're not already used by some others prog/daemons ... look at /etc/services for further details

I wonder if I can write my userdefined data structures(ex: a list) to a shared memory segment?
I know, the shm functions get (void*) parameter so I should be able to read and write a list into the shared memory.
