Rewriting a word from location

I am using:

Quote:
my $location=url_param("search");
..to get the word that is being searched. What I am looking to do,
is to rewrite the word and us it in css:

Quote:
<td class="$new_location">
Sort of like this javascript:

Quote:
<script type="text/javascript">
var search="$location"
if (search=="word_that_changes_css")
{
document.write("new_css")
}
else
{
document.write("default_css")
}
</script>
Hopefully I am making myself clear.
Any ideas how I could do this?
