any goof ups like this?

This thread reminded me of a couple of screwups made by an operator in my old job. The ops used to run OS backups through a script which asked for the path to the tape (/dev/rmt/whatnot). We (the sysadmins) would give these to the ops if a new server was added or the h/w path changed. One Sunday... (4 Replies)

[Solved] D380/2 hard drive

Hello everybody, I've received yesterday a very old HP server: HP9000, A3579A, D380/2 with two 180 MHz PA-RISC CPUs, 256 MB RAM. Actual firmware is 38.40. But no hard drives. I'm looking for 18 or 36 GB HD references. Is 11i v3 HP-UX working on it? Or, what is the latest version? Is 256 MB... (4 Replies)

BELKIN(8) Network UPS Tools (NUT) BELKIN(8)

NAME
belkin - Driver for Belkin serial UPS equipment NOTE
This man page only documents the hardware-specific features of the belkin driver. For information about the core driver, see nutupsdrv(8). SUPPORTED HARDWARE
The belkin driver is known to support the Regulator Pro 525 (F6C525-SER). Other similar models such as the 425 and 625 should also work. The Trust UPS and older Belkin units are not supported. EXTRA ARGUMENTS
This driver does not support any extra settings in the ups.conf(5). BUGS
The protocol for this UPS is not officially documented. Beware. It is possible to turn your UPS into a glorified power strip if you play with the protocol directly. In particular, there is one command that will convince it that it has no batteries, so you lose your protection. I had to go out and buy another identical model to find out what to program back into that register to bring the first one back to life. It is not safe to send random characters to this UPS. Note: the driver doesn't go anywhere near these character sequences, so it won't zap your UPS. I only mention this here as yet another reminder of the perils of closed hardware. SEE ALSO
