I am looking to populate an (associated) array with a command line argument.
The command line would look something like this:
alert -action test -priority '10' -module test_module . . .
The associated array would look like this after the data is read in
flag=(action=test

How can we copy a command string from a previous command line and paste it into the cursor position on the current command line? I know that ^c will not work as the shell will interpret as an interrupt signal.

I am writing a shell script to build Java options dynamically in a variable array and pass them to java.exe. If an option value contains a space, I cannot find a way to get it interpreted correctly. Here is my example:

Being new to awk I have a really basic question. It just has to be in the archives but it didn't bite me when I went looking for it.

clear_locks - clear locks held on behalf of an NFS client SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/clear_locks [-s] hostname DESCRIPTION
The clear_locks command removes all file, record, and share locks created by the hostname and held on the current host, regardless of which process created or owns the locks. This command can be run only by the super-user. This command should only be used to repair the rare case of a client crashing and failing to clear held locks. Clearing locks held by an active client may cause applications to fail in an unexpected manner. OPTIONS
-s Remove all locks created by the current machine and held by the server hostname. OPERANDS
The following operands are supported: hostname name of host server EXIT STATUS
