Need help on bash "find" utility
Hi all, I need to write a script "hunt" that is similar to "find" without using "find" in there. Also have to print out how many subdirectories it's got.
like if I type:

$hunt unix

it will show:
Code:
2 /home/var/unix


something like that. I have no idea how to do the file search without using find command and how to count to number of subdirectories. I don't need the whole code, just someone give me some clues please? Just let me know how to implement it. Thanks in advance!

BASH find filenames in list that match certain "pattern."

I guess by "pattern," I mean something different from how that word is defined in the Linux world. If you take $ to mean a letter (a-z) and # to mean a number (0-9), then the pattern I'm trying to match is as follows: $$$##-####-###-###.jpg I'd like to write a script that reads in a list of files... bash: How to reuse the search result of "find"

find . -type f -print0 | xargs -0 chmod 600 find . -type f On bash, I would like to pass the search result of "find" to another command as well as to the standard output. Find lines with "A" then change "E" to "X" same line

I have a bunch of random character lines like ABCEDFG. I want to find all lines with "A" and then change any "E" to "X" in the same line. ALL lines with "A" will have an "X" somewhere in it. NAME

       Locale::Script - standard codes for script identification

SYNOPSIS

	  use Locale::Script;

	  $script  = code2script('phnx');		      # 'Phoenician'

				 LOCALE_CODE_NUMERIC);	      # 115

DESCRIPTION

       The "Locale::Script" module provides access to standards codes used for identifying scripts, such as those defined in ISO 15924.

       Most of the routines take an optional additional argument which specifies the code set to use. If not specified, the default ISO 15924
       four-letter codes will be used.

SUPPORTED CODE SETS

       There are several different code sets you can use for identifying scripts. A code set may be specified using either a name, or a constant
       that is automatically exported by this module.

       For example, the two are equivalent:

	  $script = code2script('phnx','alpha');
	  $script = code2script('phnx',LOCALE_SCRIPT_ALPHA);

       The codesets currently supported are:

       alpha, LOCALE_SCRIPT_ALPHA
	   This is a set of four-letter (capitalized) codes from ISO 15924 such as 'Phnx' for Phoenician.  It also includes additions to this set
	   included in the IANA language registry.

	   The Zxxx, Zyyy, and Zzzz codes are not used.

	   This is the default code set.

       num, LOCALE_SCRIPT_NUMERIC
	   This is a set of three-digit numeric codes from ISO 15924 such as 115 for Phoenician.
