debugging a script??
Hi all,
Am working on a script to understand the flow control of it..
Since i am from a C background i looking out for an easy way to analyze the script as it runs ..
In C/C++ we have F7 that starts execution from main() and proceeds accordingly..
I was wondering if there is a same approach for shell scripts..
These are what i already tried..
bash -xv <script>
this is a little hard to understand (esp when the script itself runs into pages)
i tried understand function by function by using "set +x and set -x"
that was of little help..
so can anyone help me out on this??
Thanks

Newbie question. I cannot get "set -n" or "set -noexec on" to work on Linux or AIX! According to the man page and what I read online, it should inform me of syntax errors without executing commands in your script.
So, can someone PLEASE explain why this does not work?

NAME
ipescript - Run an Ipe script (written in Lua)
SYNOPSIS
ipescript script { arguments }
DESCRIPTION
ipescript runs an Ipe script written in Lua. The Ipe bindings are automatically available in the script. Ipescript looks for the script
in any of the script directories.
The script argument should not contain the .lua extension.
ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES
ipescript respects the following environment variables:
IPELATEXDIR
the directory where ipetoipe runs Pdflatex.
IPESCRIPTS a list of directories where Ipescript will look for
scripts. When this variable is not set, Ipe searches first the current directory, then ~/.ipe/scripts, and finally the system-wide
Ipe script directory. When this variable is set, it should contain a list of directories, separated by semicolons. A single under-
score is replaced by the system-wide Ipe script directory.
