i have data which is in two columns (such as below). i need to compare two rows against each other and if one row matches the other row (except for different case), and their values in the second column are different, then it prints out one of the rows (either is fine).
here is an example:
the output for this would be:
im quite sure that uniq is what i should be using, and i have already used it once to remove any exact duplicates ie:
however, from here im not sure where to go
I have a large file (10M lines) that contains two columns: a frequency and a string, ex:
3 aaaaa
4 bbbbb
2 ccccc
5 aaaaa
1 ddddd
4 ccccc
I need to merge the lines whose string part is the same, while updating the frequency. The output should look like this:
8 aaaaa
4 bbbbb
5 ccccc... (2 Replies)
Hi I'm trying to compare 3 or more files based on similar values and outputting them into 3 columns.
For example:
file1
ABC
DEF
GHI
file2
DEF
DER
file3

The output should come out like this

I am trying to transpose rows to columns for thousands of records. The problem is there are records that have the same lines that need to be separated. the input file as below:-
ID 1A02_HUMAN
AC P01892; O19619; P06338; P10313; P30444; P30445; P30446; P30514;

As part of some report generation, I've written a script to fetch the values from DB. But, unluckily, for certain Time ranges(1-9.99,10-19.99 etc), I don't have data in DB.
In such cases, I would like to write zero (0) instead of empty. The desired output will be exported to csv file.

locale::codes::langvar
Locale::Codes::LangVar(3pm) Perl Programmers Reference Guide Locale::Codes::LangVar(3pm)NAME
Locale::Codes::LangVar - standard codes for language variation identification
SYNOPSIS
use Locale::Codes::LangVar;
$lvar = code2langvar('acm'); # $lvar gets 'Mesopotamian Arabic'
$code = langvar2code('Mesopotamian Arabic'); # $code gets 'acm'
@codes = all_langvar_codes();
@names = all_langvar_names();
DESCRIPTION
The "Locale::Codes::LangVar" module provides access to standard codes used for identifying language variations, such as those as defined in
the IANA language registry.
Most of the routines take an optional additional argument which specifies the code set to use. If not specified, the default IANA language
registry codes will be used.
SUPPORTED CODE SETS
There are several different code sets you can use for identifying language variations. A code set may be specified using either a name, or
a constant that is automatically exported by this module.
For example, the two are equivalent:
$lvar = code2langvar('en','alpha-2');
$lvar = code2langvar('en',LOCALE_CODE_ALPHA_2);
The codesets currently supported are:
alpha
This is the set of alphanumeric codes from the IANA language registry, such as 'arevela' for Eastern Armenian.
This code set is identified with the symbol "LOCALE_LANGVAR_ALPHA".
This is the default code set.
ROUTINES
code2langvar ( CODE [,CODESET] )

Locale::Codes::LangVar::add_langvar ( CODE ,NAME [,CODESET] )
Locale::Codes::LangVar::delete_langvar ( CODE [,CODESET] )
Locale::Codes::LangVar::add_langvar_alias ( NAME ,NEW_NAME )
Locale::Codes::LangVar::delete_langvar_alias ( NAME )

Locale::Codes::LangVar::add_langvar_code_alias ( CODE ,NEW_CODE [,CODESET] )
Locale::Codes::LangVar::delete_langvar_code_alias ( CODE [,CODESET] )
These routines are all documented in the Locale::Codes::API man page.
