When we use telnet (from unix workstation or windows) to remotely access the Unix server, the environment variables such as: DISPLAY, TERM, LOGNAME are communicate to the telnet server during the telnet session negotiation. By default these variables are passed to the server.

Now my task is
there are two servers A and B.
i only can put unix script in server A and database is on server B.
can I write a script in serer A which could telnet to server B and run the script which include sql script and save the output file in server A.

I have some AIX 4.3 machines which have disabled root telnet access.
When you run su - once logged on the machine requests a password and if one is supplied correctly it asks for another users password.
How do I configure this?

Somewhat long story:
I have a simple Perl CGI script that uses Expect to Telnet to a device and grab some data, and then spits it back to Perl for display on the Webpage.
This works for many devices I've tried, but one device just fails, it keeps rejecting the password on this device, only... (1 Reply)

it would print some text and
it would ask for a username and pwd.
I jus need to capture the text and i need to come out of the telnet session.

tv_split - Split XMLTV listings into separate files by date and channel. SYNOPSIS
tv_split --output TEMPLATE [FILE...] DESCRIPTION
Read XMLTV listings and split them into some number of output files. The output file chosen for each programme is given by substitutions on the filename template supplied. You can split listings by time and by channel. The TEMPLATE is a filename but substitutions are applied: first %channel is replaced with the id of a programme's channel, and then Date::Manip substitutions (which broadly follow date(1)) are applied based on the start time of each programme. In this way each programme is written to a particular output file. When an output file is created it will also contain all the channel elements from the input. One or more input files can be given; if more than one then they are concatenated in the same way as tv_cat. If no input files are given then standard input is read. EXAMPLE
Use "tv_split --output %channel-%Y%m%d.xml" to separate standard input into separate files for each day and channel. The files will be created with names like bbc1.bbc.co.uk-20020330.xml. SEE ALSO
