sequence numbering with a file
One way would be to have the next sequence number in a file.
seqnmlog="/tmp/my_next_num"
next=$(cat "$seqnmlog")
((next=next+1))
echo "$next" > "$seqnmlog"
then do whatever

as you can see there is a delimiter after c8 "::". Awk sees the rest as fields because it doesn't recognize spaces and tabs as delimiters. So i am basically looking to isolate 20030003ba13f6cc. Can anyone help?

array range (mixed $start, mixed $end, [number $step = 1])
DESCRIPTION
Create an array containing a range of elements.
PARAMETERS
o $start
- First value of the sequence.
o $end
- The sequence is ended upon reaching the $end value.
o $step
- If a $step value is given, it will be used as the increment between elements in the sequence. $step should be given as a posi-
tive number. If not specified, $step will default to 1.
RETURN VALUES
Returns an array of elements from $start to $end, inclusive.
