remove specific lines from flat file using perl
Hi,
Here is wat im looking for.. i have a flat file which looks like this..
00
*
*
*
*
..
..
*
*
text
text
text
COL1 COL2
----- -----
1 a
2 b
3 c
....
....
100 z
text

*
I just want to retrieve..
COL1 COL2
----- -----
1 a
2 b

I am on AIX Unix. I want to read a flat file for a string in a certain byte. I want to find the value: 943034 in column 56; and write out just those records to another file. Also, could I get the line/record number of where it was found in the input file?

I have a issues while loading a flat file to the DB. It is taking much time.
When analyzed i found out that there are duplicates entry in the flat file.

DESCRIPTION
XmTextSetHighlight highlights text between the two specified character positions. The mode parameter determines the type of highlighting.
Highlighting text merely changes the visual appearance of the text; it does not set the selection. Specifies the Text widget ID Specifies
the position of the left boundary of text to be highlighted. This is an integer number of characters from the beginning of the text buffer.
The first character position is 0. Specifies the position of the right boundary of text to be highlighted. This is an integer number of
