Not the most efficient solution (ideally you'd pull out all the hostnames, from all the lines then remove duplicates) but you can do this:
usage: scriptname.sh < configfile.txt > logfile.txt
(Untested - you will probably need to debug a bit)

Hi All,
I am to the UNIX world and want to know if I can specify a range of IP addresses instead of having to include one by one on the HOSTS file.
Can I just say
127.20.1.1 to 127.20.1.156 ?
Or the only way is to put one by one along with the machine name next to the IP ?
