I agree with the comment about finding a position where you can do Unix plus other stuff. I started with a help desk position where I did Windows, Netware, OS/2, and Unix all. Since I liked Unix and knew it best of all the help desk guys I was able to work my way into a Unix admin position after a while.

Also, check out The Practice of System and Network Administration by Limoncelli and Hogan. It has tons of material about finding sysadmin jobs and beign successful once you have them.

for starter

I have a problem I got about 50 log files with some information, the info is not important. I would like to search only for specific info from the logs. I did find it. macutil - A package that deals with MacIntosh files on a Unix system DESCRIPTION
macutil is a package that contains a number of utilities that deal with MacIntosh files on a Unix system. It contains the following pro- grams: binhex Convert files to BinHex 4.0 compatible hexified form. frommac Receives files from the MacIntosh on the Unix system. hexbin Convert hexified files to their MacIntosh format. macsave Save a series of files from a MacBinary stream as individual files. macstream Combine a series of files to a MacBinary stream. macunpack Unpack a MacIntosh archive into its constituents. tomac Transmits files from the Unix system to a MacIntosh.
