Dear all
I would like to shutdown multiple servers remotely with the issue of one single command. What is the command to shut down a server remotely (ie, I want to issue a command on server X to shutdown server Y and server Z).

I want to execute few of my bash script, so that whenever someone calls shutdown now -r command, I want my script to execute first before shutting down.

hi all,
Im fairly new to scripting and am having a noobish issue. Ive got a script that checks for certain directories and if they dont exist, prompts the user to do a mkdir. heres trouble spot in the script:

Hi,
I am on Alpha Server with HP Tru64 system.
I wish to setup shutdown to automatically and cleanly shutdown informix during the shutting down of the system.
Ie. I was trying to use rc0.d to do this but failed.
Has anyone tried doing this before? I already have the script and linked it

I have Oracle 9i R2 on AIX 5.2. My Database is running in shared server mode (MTS).
Sometimes when I shutdown the database it shutsdown cleanly in 4-5 mints and sometimes it takes good 15-20 minutes and then I get some ora-600 errors and only way to shutdown is by opening another session and... (7 Replies)

reboot - Restarts the machine SYNOPSIS

When the system is running and multiple users are logged in, use the shutdown -r command to perform a reboot operation. If no users are logged in, use the reboot command. The reboot command normally stops all running processes, syncs the disks, logs the reboot, and writes a shutdown entry in the login accounting file, /var/adm/wtmp. The reboot command uses the sync call to synchronize the disks, and to perform other shutdown activities such as resynchronizing the hard- ware time-of-day clock. After these activities, the system reboots. By default, the system starts and the file systems are automatically checked. If the start-up activities are successful, the system comes up in the default run-level. You must have root privileges to use this command. Using the -n flag can result in file system damage. FLAGS
Generates a crash dump of the system before halting it. Can be used with any of the other flags. Does not log the reboot using syslog Does not sync the disks or log the reboot using syslog Performs a quick reboot without first shutting down running processes; does not log the reboot using syslog EXAMPLES
