I'd like to make my AIX 5.3 box a member of my Windows 2003 AD. Is this possible? If so, what are the steps? What I'm really after is a way for my windows users to access files on my Samba shares with the exact same permissions, owner, etc. as they use when accessing files on a windows directory. (1 Reply)

I have 11 AIX (a mix of 4.3.3.0 and 4.3.2.0) on which I succesfully installed a Samba server. On two other systems, the smbd start command generates the following error message. Anybody ?

Ok I'm still trying to figure AIX out, I was used to HP-UX until they switched our server to AIX in February and all of the other servers are Linux which appears to be much more friendly. AIX is, well, NOT.

I'm trying to mount a share from Win2003 on AIX with ntlmv2. It doesn't seem to work as Windows keep complaining about a wrong username/password.
I've added "client ntlmv2 auth = yes" to smb.conf.

I am trying to update Samba on my AIX 7.1 system as there is an issues with it, the smbd process coredumps and I have had no luck figuring it out why.
My approach is to try to re-install a newer samba and I have found the latest 3.x package for samba in ppc.rpm format at perlz.org

Hello,
I have an AIX 7.1 Power8 machine on which I have a working copy of Samba 3.6 installed using perzl.org repo.
The issue I am running into is, Samba 3.6 supports the more secure SMB2 protocol but its tools (smbclient) do not, only in 4.1 did Samba add support for SMB2 to their utilities.... (1 Reply)

I am running AIX 7.1 and currently we have samba 3.6.25 installed on the server. As it stands some AIX folders are shared that can be accessed by certain Windows users.
The problem is that since Windows 10 the guest feature no longer works so users have to manually type in their Windows login/pwd... (14 Replies)

NAME
ntdbdump - tool for printing the contents of an NTDB file
SYNOPSIS
ntdbdump [-k keyname] [-e] [-h] {filename}
DESCRIPTION
This tool is part of the samba(1) suite.
ntdbdump is a very simple utility that 'dumps' the contents of a NTDB (New Trivial DataBase) file to standard output in a human-readable
format.
This tool can be used when debugging problems with NTDB files. It is intended for those who are somewhat familiar with Samba internals.
OPTIONS
-h
Get help information.
-k keyname
The -k option restricts dumping to a single key, if found.

This man page is correct for version 4 of the Samba suite.
AUTHOR
The original Samba software and related utilities were created by Andrew Tridgell. Samba is now developed by the Samba Team as an Open
