I would recommend getting a quick grounding in UNIX, shells and environment variables before going any further.

DISPLAY is an environment variable.

How are you accessing the server to run your scripts?

Why is the application server not running as part of the server initialisation?

auwave demonstrates the use of waveform elements. The user can interactively select any waveform supported by the server and control its frequency and volume. Additionally, the gain of the output device can be modified. AUWAVE AND THE ATHENA WIDGET SET
