I have compiled binary file using "cc" on SunOS 5.8 and the same binary file i have copied to SunOS 5.9 and it is giving me core dump error.I want to know whether migration of compiled code from lower version to higer version created this problem. how can i solve this problem.I am pasting the core... How can I log ftp debug information?
I added in /etc/syslog.conf:
daemon.debug /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
and then I stopped and started syslogd but it does not log anything... (1 Reply)
I am ftp'ing to one of our network drives to pick up a tar file. In the script, it does the ftp, but doesn't pick up the username and password. Do I need to script these a certain way so it knows this is input?

Could I change password while login in to ftp server(solaris 10)? I tried to use fileZilla and command prompt(window) to change my password but It can't. Do you have any suggestion ?
Ps. I can't telnet and ssh to the server because of poicy for ftpuser.

Hi everyone: I have been trying to simply FTP a file over to this SunOS 5.10 (which is same as Solaris 10 now) and nothing works!
I can only Telnet to this via SSH (with my own account/uid), and I can also send simple mail out with mailx, that's all!!!

I have F5 load balancer on my system and checking service status by opening an ftp session in every 30 seconds. rdate - set system date from a remote host
SYNOPSIS
rdate hostname
DESCRIPTION
rdate sets the local date and time from the hostname given as an argument. You must have the authorization solaris.system.date on the local
system. Typically, rdate is used in a startup script.
The inetd daemon responds to rdate requests. To enable inetd response, the lines invoking the time command in inetd.conf must not be com-
mented out.
USAGE
The rdate command is IPv6-enabled. See ip6(7P).
