Changing my Screen Resolution (Not in X)
I have no graphical environment, no X, just a shell... but its WAY bigger than my monitor...
what do I do?

I have installed Solaris 10 over vmware onto my machine. Now when I want to change my screen resolution it only has one option which is 800x600. Is there a way to change that to a bigger resollution? And if there is, what file do I have to edit and what text editor do I have to use? (1 Reply)

Hi all,
Someone please help, I have a machine running Sun Solaris 5.8.
X used to run fine, not it can't start. (possible user intervention)
It looks to be trying to run at 1280x1024. I don't think the hardware will support it, it seems high.

I need to get the current X*Y resolution of X in a shell script. xrandr -q gives me a line like this:
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1600 x 1200, maximum 3080 x 1600

I install Cent OS 5.5 ( Linux OS), with bshell and also Windows OS on the my laptop (ASUA) maximum screen resolution in Windows OS is 1024*760 but in Cent OS 5.5 is 800 *600, I have a program that is necessary to install on Cent OS and I have problem with other Linux distributions... (2 Replies)

I would like to try OpenStep for Solaris on my Sun Ultra 10 machine, so I installed all required packages, the problem is that OpenStep requires screen DPI to be set to 72x72 while my current dpi is 90x90. So how do I change the dpi?

ids [start | stop | status | monitor | validate-all | meta-data | methods | usage]
DESCRIPTION
OCF resource agent to manage an IBM Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) instance as an High-Availability resource.
SUPPORTED PARAMETERS
informixdir
The value the environment variable INFORMIXDIR has after a typical installation of IDS. Or in other words: the path (without trailing
'/') where IDS was installed to. If this parameter is unspecified the script will try to get the value from the shell environment.
(optional, string, no default)
informixserver
The value the environment variable INFORMIXSERVER has after a typical installation of IDS. Or in other words: the name of the IDS
server instance to manage. If this parameter is unspecified the script will try to get the value from the shell environment. (optional,
string, no default)
onconfig
The value the environment variable ONCONFIG has after a typical installation of IDS. Or in other words: the name of the configuration
file for the IDS instance specified in INFORMIXSERVER. The specified configuration file will be searched at '/etc/'. If this parameter
is unspecified the script will try to get the value from the shell environment. (optional, string, no default)
dbname
This parameter defines which database to use in order to monitor the IDS instance. If this parameter is unspecified the script will use
the 'sysmaster' database as a default. (optional, string, default sysmaster)
sqltestquery
SQL test query to run on the database specified by the parameter 'dbname' in order to monitor the IDS instance and determine if it's
functional or not. If this parameter is unspecified the script will use 'SELECT COUNT(*) FROM systables;' as a default. (optional,
string, default SELECT COUNT(*) FROM systables;)
SUPPORTED ACTIONS
This resource agent supports the following actions (operations):
start
Starts the resource. Suggested minimum timeout: 120.
stop
Stops the resource. Suggested minimum timeout: 120.
status
Performs a status check. Suggested minimum timeout: 60.
monitor
Performs a detailed status check. Suggested minimum timeout: 30. Suggested interval: 10.
validate-all
