I am trying to write a script, which queries a db to get the names of processes, stores it in a file and then checks if that process is running on a remote server. However I am not getting it right, could anyone help me out.

I am fairly new to Shell Scripting.
I want a script to check if a process is up by checking the process's PID and then return a value for when it's running which would be 0. If it isn't running it should give any other value that 0.
Any Help is appreciated

Ok, so I know there's a way to do this, but I've been trying to find out all afternoon with no luck. I think it should print out something like this:

i need to list the processes running only under current logged in user.
EX:
$ whoami

$ ps -ef | grep tnslsnr

I want to check how many processes are running with same names and get their respective counts.
ps -ef|grep -Eo 'process1|process2|process3| '|sort -u | awk '{print $2": "$1}'
