Hello,
I thought it was possible to use several time a #! entry on a script but it doesn't seems to work. My need is to have a part of a ksh script without substitution so it would look like
#!/bin/ksh
--
first part
---
#!/bin/ksh -f
--
part without substitution
--
#!/bin/ksh

Hi folks
Please let me know if anyone knows how to handle this.
My KSH script -> testscript.ksh
cmd=$1
ENV="devl"
echo $cmd
This is how I call the script
./testscript.ksh 'ps -ef | grep br$ENV'
How do I get this to print the below text i.e $ENV should be substituted with the value... (5 Replies)

My specific goal: automatically edit a Makefile variable's (EXTRAVERSION)
value in a kernel Makefile.
So, I have a shell script that takes one parameter, a version string:
buildkernel.sh 2.6.18.21.7-custom
In the script, I assign the parameter to K_VER:

Hi
I have a variable BIT1 which holds some value. Is there a way to retrieve the value of this variable indirectly via another variable, lets say SUBSET_BIT_NUM=1, so the call will look something like this:
sundev1 $ echo ${BIT${SUBSET_BIT_NUM}}

1. Accept two filenames from user and store the filenames in two variables (FILE1 and FILE2)
2. Check if files exisits. If doesn't, then exit

replacekey - replace keywords in a FITS header SYNOPSIS
replacekey [options] <in> DESCRIPTION
replacekey is aimed at replacing keywords in a FITS file's header by new keywords provided by the user on the command-line. ALGORITHM
The user can provide a new_keyword, an old_keyword, a value and a comment. first searchs for old_keyword if provided. If it finds it, it replaces the associated card by the new one (new_keyword=value/comment). If old_keyword is either not found or not provided, associated card by the new one (new_keyword=value/comment). new_keyword has to be provided. Examples: You want to change the value of VALUE from 32 to 16 in myfile.fits: % replacekey -k "VALUE" -v "16" myfile.fits If you want to replace the card with the keyword OLD by "NEW = 3.14 / This is a usefull key" in myfile.fits: % replacekey -k "NEW" -v "3.14" -c "This is a usefull key" -K "OLD" myfile.fits If your do not care about the HISTORY cards you have in the header, and want to replace the first one by VALUE=32, you would do: % replacekey -k "VALUE" -v "32" -K "HISTORY" myfile.fits OPTIONS
