FTP Speed Problems
Sounds to me like you may have a problem with the IBM/Cisco auto negotiation of network parameters. Try manually setting the speed and duplex settings on both the Cisco and The Pseries boxes I have experienced this many times and now set them as a mater of course.

Doing simple floating point or integer arithmetic is limited since if another execution core is not busy, the system will (presumably?) assign CPU resources to where they are needed so I could be getting the performance of 2 or more cores theoretically?
