Example, here is a utility that will take the output from Linux vmstat utility and insert the output into an Oracle table:

PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
export PATH
SERVER_NAME=`uname -a|awk '{print $2}'`

export SERVER_NAME

# sample every five minutes (300 seconds) . . . .
