You are correct Duke, a dfstab entry or a sharetab
entry will also envoke the nfsd daemon.
I guess the nfs/server was running but the /var/svc/log
for nfs-server was playing tricks on me.

Does anyone know how I stop nfs/lockd and all of the associated services from starting at bootup? There's nothing in the /etc/rc*.d files to rename. That was my first idea. I also tried renaming /etc/init.d/nfs.server to something else, but that did not work either.

I have just joined this forum & hope that I will find a solution to my question.
I have configured NFS shares on my machine solaris 10 (5.10). Shares have rw access for everyone.
Tried starting NFS server daemon with following command.

Hi,
my problem is that I am not able to grand the nfs directory on a Fedora 7 server to a standard solaris client.
I always got the messages no permission.
Important: No change on the client (Solaris) is possible! So I am not able to change the NFS Version on the client side to force the... (3 Replies)

Hello,
I have a centos as nfs server, its name is centos_A.
After I finish the setup of the nfs server, the other linux can access this nfs server immediately via /net/centos_A/*
But,

I am trying to get a NFS share on a Solaris 10 branded zone. I have read that this is not possible...but I was hoping someone here could tell me different.
share -F nfs -o ro,anon=0 /dir
This would really surprise me that you cannot do this.

rpcdebug -vh rpcdebug -m module rpcdebug -m module -s flags... rpcdebug -m module -c flags... DESCRIPTION
The rpcdebug command allows an administrator to set and clear the Linux kernel's NFS client and server debug flags. Setting these flags causes the kernel to emit messages to the system log in response to NFS activity; this is typically useful when debugging NFS problems. The first form in the synopsis can be used to list all available debug flags. The second form shows the currently set debug flags for the given module. The third form sets one or more flags, and the fourth form clears one or more flags. The value all may be used to set or clear all the flags for the given module. OPTIONS
-c Clear the given debug flags. -h Print a help message and exit. When combined with the -v option, also prints the available debug flags. -m module Specify which module's flags to set or clear.
