I am trying to find out if there are any recommendations regarding what events/system calls should be audited as a starting point. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had the problem I'm having or knows how to fix it. I need to audit one of our servers at work. I need to log or 'audit' any access to a shared directory which is stored on a NetApp appliance. I need to be able to 'prove' who has acessed the data in this directory at any time. I am just not sure how to do this. The systems that will be accessing this are Linux systems.

I have a requirement to report us on changing a group of static files.
Those are the binary files that run in Production every day.
Due to the in sercure environment situations, I found many are indulging in there own changes to the binaries by doing some changes in the souce code.

I want to periodically check if ASCII password/config files on Unix have 400 or 600 access. Folders and files are owned by designated group and user. Folders and Files do not have world write access.

httppower [--url URL] DESCRIPTION
httppower is a helper program for powerman which enables it to communicate with HTTP based power distribution units. It is run interac- tively by the powerman daemon. OPTIONS
-u, --url URL Set the base URL. INTERACTIVE COMMANDS
The following commands are accepted at the httppower> prompt: auth user:pass Authenticate to the base URL with specified user and password, using ``basic'' HTTP authentication which sends the user and password over the network in plain text. seturl URL Set the base URL. Overrides the command line option. get [URL-suffix] Send an HTTP GET to the base URL with the optional URL-suffix appended. post [URL-suffix] key=val[&key=val]...
