How to delete line in the same file in unix ?
Both commands,
/bin/echo "g/$patern/d\nwq!" | ex -s $file
(echo "g/$patern/d"; echo 'wq') | ex -s $filename
works fine if there are more than 1 line in file but if there is only one line then above delete command dosent works. Please help me !! (5 Replies)

I know how to check if any file has a unix process using a file by looking at 'lsof <fullpath/filename>' command.
I think using lsof is very expensive. Also to make it accurate we need to inlcude fullpath of the file.

ROLLBACK rolls back the current transaction and causes all the updates made by the transaction to be discarded.
PARAMETERS

Optional key words. They have no effect.
NOTES
Use COMMIT [commit(7)] to successfully terminate a transaction.
Issuing ROLLBACK when not inside a transaction does no harm, but it will provoke a warning message.
