Joining lines from two files - please help

I am not able to go anywhere as I couldn't make the loop to be recursive such that if it sees a directory under it, it should go back to see if there are further directories or else execute the script you gave. But not able to get it right at all.

I have a file which has the contents as below :

I've done this before but I can't remember how. Too long away from vi.
I want to do a search are replace, but I want the replace to be a join.
Example
see spot run
see spot walk
see spot run fast
see spot hop
%s/run$/<somehow perform a join with the next line>/g

I want to join two lines in a file, where the second line contain query string. if it doesn't contain that string i don't want to join
e.g.
Input file is as following:

cat eat mice

Hi,
I have two text files, that need their data joining/concatenation. 'Paste' works for this.
But have an issue when there is mismatch in number of rows in each file.
E.g.
(main file) File1 - has 20 rows
File2 - has 30 rows.
Command 'paste file1 file2 > file3' joins all lines.

I need the command to join 2 lines into one. I found lots of threads but none give me the sollution. Probably because unix scripting is one of my best features ;)
I got a logfile where line 2 needs to be joined with line 1, lines 4 needs to be joined with line 3 etc

Hi - I have req to join broken lines and remove empty lines but should NOT be in one line. It has to be as is line by line. The challenge here is there is no end of line/start of line char.

zipmerge - merge zip archives SYNOPSIS
zipmerge [-DhIiSsV] target-zip source-zip Op source-zip ... DESCRIPTION
zipmerge merges the source zip archives source-zip into the target zip archive target-zip. By default, files in the source zip archives overwrite existing files of the same name in the target zip archive. Supported options: -D Ignore directory components in file name comparisons. -h Display a short help message and exit. -I Ignore case in file name comparisons -i Ask before overwriting files. See also -s. -S Do not overwrite files that have the same size and CRC32 in both the source and target archives. -s When -i is given, do not before overwriting files that have the same size and CRC32. -V Display version information and exit. EXIT STATUS
zipmerge exits 0 on success and 1 if an error occurred. SEE ALSO
