As the error says, seems to be aprotocol error. Check againd your servers' sshd_config, and look for this line:
Code:
Protocol 2,1

Then connect forcing the protocol with either:

ssh -1 ...

or
Code:
ssh -2 ...

Check wether both server and client are using the same protocol version, and that you have the needed certificates.

sftp + expect: disconnection & restart removes already transfered data.

I have an ftp statement that when it restarts, it will write over the top of the file at the other end, rather than append to the file part sitting at the destination. irsend - basic LIRC program to send infra-red commands SYNOPSIS
irsend [options] DIRECTIVE REMOTE CODE [CODE...] DESCRIPTION
Asks the lircd daemon to send one or more CIR (Consumer Infra-Red) commands. This is intended for remote control of electronic devices such as TV boxes, HiFi sets, etc. DIRECTIVE can be: SEND_ONCE - send CODE [CODE ...] once SEND_START - start repeating CODE SEND_STOP - stop repeating CODE LIST - list configured remote items SET_TRANSMITTERS - set transmitters NUM [NUM ...] SIMULATE - simulate IR event REMOTE is the name of a remote, as described in the lircd configuration file. CODE is the name of a remote control key of REMOTE, as it appears in the lircd configuration file. NUM is the transmitter number of the hardware device.
