Xwindows on a HMC

You have several options.
I all of them, what you need is a Xserver running in the machine where you want to see the windows in.
In my case, I use Cygwin Xserver in my Windows desktop and, sshd configured to allow X tunneling in all my LPAR and the same in my ssh client (edit ssh_config for the client and sshd_config for the server, then restart sshd)
Another option. From the HMC you only need to "xhost +" to allow X conenctions, telnet to the LPAR, "export DISPLAY=<HMC_IP
ISPLAY>" and launch the installation.

I have OPENBSD 4.6 installed as a VM in Virtual Box on my Ubuntu 9.10 machine.

the question i have is why Xwindows(GUI) is not part of kernel level but part of user level in unix while in windows the GUI (Windows manager) it is part of kernel level.
For one thing is when GUI hangs it does not crash the whole system as in Windows

ftprestart [-V] DESCRIPTION
Use the ftprestart command to restart an FTP Server previously shut down by means of ftpshut(1M). The ftprestart command reads the shutdown capability from the ftpaccess(4) file to determine the path of the shutdown message files.
