we are ftping zipped up files from the development server to the production server daily.The files are in this format filename.dat.20061231.12131.gz
I have to unzip the file (i can do that with gunzip) and then strip out the timestamp after the .dat extension.

I know the typical way to script automate an ftp session is to pass all of the commands to ftp, with something 'like' the following:

Hi,
We have Oracle Database on AIX 5.3 server.We want to give ftp access to a user to a specific folder.He should be able to put and get files from that specific folder only.Moreover he should not be able to cd to any other filesystems also along with root directory.

I've created a specific FTP user restricted to only it's home dir. Eg as below:
User: ftp01
Home Dir: /home/ftp01
As I want this user to only able to access his home dir only, I've created /etc/ftpaccess.ctl and refresh the inetd daemon:
useronly: ftp01
readwrite: /home/ftp01

However, i want this code to skip all .class files.

I usually run bash to get file from ftp using command below (user : nobody, password : guest)

unix2_chkpwd - helper binary that verifies the password of the current user SYNOPSIS

unix2_chkpwd is a helper program for applications that verifies the password of the current user. It is not intended to be run directly from the command line and logs a security violation if done so. It is typically installed setuid root or setgid shadow and called by applications, which only wishes to do an user authentication and noth- ing more. OPTIONS
unix2_pwdchk requires the following arguments: pam_service The name of the service using unix2_chkpwd. This is required to be one of the services in /etc/pam.d username The name of the user whose password you want to verify. INPUTS
