I am not aware of any logs that capture startup info. You could setup a script to capture the /dev/console during the boot process.

If it did, it wouldn't be very much. I don't believe they are setup to create output. Look at one and see for yourself. On my HPUX systems I only see an OK or N/A or FAIL when the system starts up for those startup scripts.

You would have to rewrite those scripts to generate output other than that.

I'm running a small FreeBSD 5.1 system @ home. Whenever you log in with a normal account (not root) the system displays a random tip (commands, etc.) after the MOTD. I'd like to turn this feature off so that my custom MOTD fits on one screen. Is this posible at all? (3 Replies)

Not executing during startup

I have a command in my iniitab as follows: dsmc:2a:once:/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmc sched > /dev/null 2>&1 But the command doe not appear to execute during a system boot. Not sure why. I am running AIX 5.1 Thanks for the help Mike (2 Replies)

Startup script

New in Unix, I am adding a line "route add 57.14.y.y 57.14.x.x" every day after rebooting the system. Where can I add the line so during boot up (the system is re-started every day by design (???) the line is executed? (I tried the /etc/rc2.d/S90 but for some reason the line needs to be added... If I ran perl script again,old logs should move with today date and new logs should generate.
