The vBulletin software specifically states that making the search criteria smaller results in database performance problems. I think it has to do with how the database is indexed.
I agree that two letter searches are good for this site and will try again.... this weekend and see if it works! I forgot to 'reindex' the search database after changing the minimum search length to two.... we will see what happens ....
