My suggestion would be to first rebuild the system using the original OS on the new hardware..... and then after that is up and running well, consider an OS upgrade.
It is really 'too much work' to try to mend and upgrade a crashed app AND OS, all at once.... baby steps..... first simply rebuild the app without changing the OS version.

1) it exports the db and then you backup the exported files.

2) you just backup the files on disk as teh db is running.

tntnet-config [--libs] [--cxxflags] [--config[=app]] [--makefile[=app]] [--project=app] [--autoproject=app] [--help] [--version]
DESCRIPTION
This manual page documents briefly the tntnet-config command.
OPTIONS
This program's options start with two dashes (`-'). A summary of options is included below.
--libs Output linker flags.
--cxxflags
Output C++ preprocessor and compiler flags.
--config[=app]
Print default configuration file.
--makefile[=app]
Print a simple makefile for an ecpp project.
--project=app
Create a simple ecpp project directory.
--autoproject=app
Create a autotools based ecpp project.
--help Show summary of options.
--version
Show version of program.
