Unfortunately sed requires the use of temporary files as you can't output to the original file, so either way you're going to have to use temp files.

thread for the sed syntax on inserting. Note in the examples 1 is used for the insert, but you can specify the line number as different.

somehow one of my directories got a number of files whose names start with a dash -
e.g. -1129.txt
how can I remove them?
If I issue rm -1129.txt I get the message of illegal options
if I issue rm /-1129.txt I get a message that -1129.txt is not found

It needs to create a file called .std_dbrc contains
STD_DBROOT=${HOME}/class/2031/Assgn3/STD_DB
(which includes all my simple database files)

I did this command to tar the files but I got an error.
tar -cvpf filename.tar pathname/
It did tar the file filename.tar but then it gave me this error "Reach end of file before expected". The new tar file is about 2GB. So does that mean my tar file limit is 2GB? Is there a max limit... (4 Replies)

Net::DNS::Question - DNS question class

DESCRIPTION
A "Net::DNS::Question" object represents a record in the question section of a DNS packet.
METHODS
new
$question = Net::DNS::Question->new("example.com", "MX", "IN");
Creates a question object from the domain, type, and class passed as arguments.
qname, zname
print "qname = ", $question->qname, "
";
print "zname = ", $question->zname, "
";
Returns the domain name. In dynamic update packets, this field is known as "zname" and refers to the zone name.
qtype, ztype
print "qtype = ", $question->qtype, "
";
print "ztype = ", $question->ztype, "
";
Returns the record type. In dymamic update packets, this field is known as "ztype" and refers to the zone type (must be SOA).
qclass, zclass
print "qclass = ", $question->qclass, "
";
print "zclass = ", $question->zclass, "
";
Returns the record class. In dynamic update packets, this field is known as "zclass" and refers to the zone's class.

Prints the question record on the standard output.
string

Returns a string representation of the question record.
data
$qdata = $question->data($packet, $offset);
Returns the question record in binary format suitable for inclusion in a DNS packet.
Arguments are a "Net::DNS::Packet" object and the offset within that packet's data where the "Net::DNS::Question" record is to be stored.
This information is necessary for using compressed domain names.
